Kari I. Mattila

Education Manager

Kari has been writing curriculums for the National Board of Education. He has also Developed new solutions for University Adult education consortium in Finland. He is Municipal Educational Board vice chairman and Ministry of Education task force member. He has trained teachers and principals in Brazil, China, Russia and Pakistan.

Specialization: Emotional intelligence and phenomenon based learning.

Mari Laurell

M. Ed.
Teacher, Principal

Mari works as a Principal and teacher. She has created multi level teaching program and community multi service center (for children 0 to 13 years) in Asikkala. She is Teacher of the year 2018 in Päijät-Häme province. She is the board member in Finnish village school association.

Specialization: Learning by doing, individual learning.

Mikko Niipala

M. Ed.

Head of Pedagogical Development

Experienced Youth center and Camp School Developer, experienced School Camp Director and Teacher. 

Specialization: Experiental Education

Joonas Kankkunen

M. Sc.
Head of Communication

Joonas has a major in Chinese Studies, with focus on Chinese history and modern society, language, and communication. He has worked as a private language teacher, translator, and interpreter and he has a good grasp of culture, sports, and travel industries as well. His solid academic background combined with hands-on experience gives him powerful tools to act as a cultural mediator.

Rui Yang

Sales manager

While working in Chinese schools Rui has accumulated a wealth of experience in the Chinese school world and educational tourism. Rui is currently part-time studying International Business in Lahti University of Applied sciences.

Virve Walander

Business developer

Experience in both Business development and entrepreneurship in the fields of circular economy and cleantech, human resourses and tourism. Experience also in working with children and young people in volunteering.

The passionate aim now in EkoFin is to convey Finnish environmental education to children and young people around the world in order to contribute to the protection of nature for future generations.
